You configure this by navigating to Site / General / Settings
Define Method of Management
Define whether you will have a community management team and/or community manager.
Define Necessary Steps for Management
- Roles that may need to be made (create custom roles by navigating to Users & Groups / Manage / Custom Roles).
- Configure granular permissions by groups | users | spaces by selecting the wrench icon on the user and group pages.
- Use of moderation tools – automatic vs manual features
- Use of articles/make sticky or site sticky options/ site-wide notifications to define community expectations.
- Use of custom web panels for community management to manage the development and growth efforts and to give guidance for the community to make it successful and sustainable.
Create Discussion Categories in Advance
- Create initial categories
- Can separate out categories using

- Spaces
- Content Types
- Can separate out categories using
- Discuss how to keep topics and discussions focused
- Use the description sections for spaces, topic pages, ideas to establish rules and expectations
Discuss the Sign-up and Sign-in Process
- You can choose and configure any of the four out-of-the-box SSO options:
- Cookie: Enable from Plugins / Manage Plugins / Disabled plugins list. Then Users & Groups / Settings / SSO Authentication.
- LDAP: Enable plugin from Plugins / Manage Plugins / Disabled plugins list. Then Users & Groups / Settings / LDAP Authentication.
- SAML: Enable plugin from Plugins / Manage Plugins / Disabled plugins list. Then Users & Groups / Settings / SAML Authentication.
- openID: Users & Groups / Settings / Authentication Modes.
Gamification as Incentive for Interaction & Support
- Use Gamification to incentivize users to continue to interact with and support your community
- Badges awarded in ascending order: Bronze, Silver, Gold. The community moderator can establish benefits based on the number and type of badges acquired by a user.
- Use of reputation points
- Gaining more permissions through reputation points
- Becoming experts
- Rewarding in other tangible ways in combination with the above tools
Create Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
- Create Terms of Service and Community Guidelines by choosing any of the following methods or a combination of the methods below:
- Sticky Article per space or Site Sticky Article
- Custom Web Panels
- Space Descriptions
- Static Pages
Setup Your Outgoing Emails
- Create and Test Registration email, welcome email, notification emails through AH admin
Setup Your Incoming Emails
- This will allow users to reply by email for easier/faster responses.
