Permissions and Configuration
By this point in the training process, the client should have a good idea of the structure of their community. This includes the mix of public and private spaces they wish to use, the mix of desired content in each space, a starting set of groups they wish to use to manage access to the various combinations of spaces, and the workflows/permissions for each space. This training provides an in-depth explanation of permissions and reviews site configuration.
Permissions Overview
AnswerHub controls access to all aspects of the site and content through a granular set of permissions. We group these permissions together into sections called roles.
You can manage permissions at the individual user level, through groups, on a community-wide basis, or at the point of intersection of each group and space. Users may be members of multiple groups. Group weighting resolves conflicts in permissions (granted or denied) amongst groups.
Permissions set at the individual user level will override any conflicting permissions set for the various groups that individual is a member of. We recommend that you don't manage permissions on an individual basis as there is no easy auditing. Instead, make permission changes by modifying existing groups, or creating and configuring new groups.
From the user list, the gear icon provides a path to permissions. This is a path to manage the permission for an individual user. From the same menu, you can also assign the member to a group. We recommend this.
